What to tell us
Give us the city you are leaving from and where you need to be, your dates, the time of any meeting or event you are working around, and the number of passengers. Tell us what is traveling with you too, whether that is garment bags for a formal dinner, materials for a conference, golf clubs or pets. If someone on your staff books your travel, they are welcome to send the request on your behalf. If you have not chartered before, say so, and your advisor will explain how the process works before you commit.
Which airport you will use
None of the main airports is inside the District. Washington Dulles International Airport (KIAD/IAD) in Northern Virginia is the usual choice for private flights. Leesburg Executive Airport (KJYO/JYO) is handy for Loudoun County, and Montgomery County Airpark (KGAI/GAI) in Gaithersburg for the Maryland suburbs. Baltimore/Washington International Airport (KBWI/BWI) is another option, especially for trips toward Baltimore. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (KDCA/DCA) is open to private flights only under a strict security program, so your advisor will tell you whether it is realistic for your trip. Which one is right depends on the aircraft and the address you are going to, and we will compare them for you.
What happens next
We come back with the aircraft options and tell you which certified operator would fly each one, before you commit. Under DOT Part 295, when we book a flight as your agent rather than as the operator, we put it in writing. Your advisor keeps the trip from the first call until you land, and if the schedule moves, they will rework the plan with you.
